On Softness
I jotted this thought down on 18 September 2022:
When we are soft and easy to break, we often think we should become tougher, like rock or metal, and hard to break.
But we might as well soften up even more, becoming flexible and fluid like water or air, and nearly impossible to break.
Now that I read it again, two quotes come to mind.
One is from Jon Krakauer’s book Into The Wild:
The fragility of crystal is not a weakness but a fineness.
And the other from a clip of a Bruce Lee’s interview:
Water can flow… or it can crash. Be water, my friend.
This post serves as a reminder that there are many ways to be strong.
